Heather Locklear Checked Into Rehab For Addiction

Following an arrest for a domestic dispute, Heather Locklear is seeking help for substance abuse.

Following her arrest in February, Heather Locklear has reportedly checked herself into a rehab. A friend tells People that the veteran actress is seeking treatment for addiction.

“Heather is in treatment for addiction,” a friend shares. “Everyone hopes she gets well, that she gets better.” The friend added, “Addiction is obviously a strong disease and as much as friends and family who love her and want her to get better and be happy, no one can do the work for her. Hopefully she is getting the help she needs."

This isn't the first time the 56-year-old Melrose Place star has battled substance abuse. As People reported, in March 2008, her doctor called authorities to report that she was suicidal. In June of that year, she sought help for psychological issues including anxiety and depression.

In February of this year, Locklear was arrested following an alleged domestic dispute with her boyfriend Chris Hessier. Authorities were called to the Thousand Oaks, California home of the actress. The arrest was called in by Locklear's brother, according to a 911 call obtained by TMZ.

Sargent Eric Buschow said that the actress was combative during the interaction with authorities, describing her as "extremely uncooperative and physically combative." She was booked on three counts of battery for allegedly attacking three responding Ventura County Sheriff's deputies.

“I don’t have any information as to whether or not an alcohol was involved, but she was extremely uncooperative right off the bat,” Buschow told People. “She became combative with the deputies to the point where she was arrested not only for felony domestic battery but three counts of battery on a police officer.”

Locklear and Messier have been in each other's lives for years. The actress reconnected with her high school boyfriend last year and they've been together since. She called him her "favorite person on earth" on Instagram six months ago.
