Martinis & Murder Cocktail Recipe: Texas Greyhound

Pair this grapefruit and vodka cocktail with Episode #69, "The Truck Driver Murders."

By Gina Pace

You’ll definitely want a Texas-themed drink to sip on while learning about this murder-for-hire case in the Lone Star State.

We picked some made-in-Texas ingredients to amp up this Greyhound, traditionally made with vodka and grapefruit juice. Both of the star components of the drink are made in Austin: Deep Eddy Vodka and Austin Eastciders Ruby Red Grapefruit Cider (Ruby Red grapefruit clones were first developed in Texas).

Here's how to make the drink:

3 ounces Austin Eastciders Ruby Red Grapefruit Cider
1 1/2 ounces Deep Eddy Vodka
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
5 dashes grapefruit bitters
Slice of grapefruit

Fill glass with ice.
Add vodka, lime, simple syrup and bitters to glass.
Top with the grapefruit cider and stir.
Garnish with a grapefruit slice.

Be sure to mix up a few while diving into the story of Marcia Kelly and what really happened to her husband James Kelly. Spoiler alert: There's a truck, $10,000, and two jet skis involved.
