For her calimocho, Mix made her own cola, which is a notoriously difficult thing to do.
In the fall, Mix seeks out richer, more comforting and effervescent flavors, like cranberry, apple side, and maple syrup.
To come up with drinks, Mix starts with a flavor profile or a mood, and she'll test out ideas the cocktail is perfect.
In addition to running her own bar, she co-runs Speed Rack, an all-female cocktail competition that benefits breast cancer.
"The reason why we started [Speed Rack]....was because you would go into the best bars in the world, and there were no women in them," Mix says.
Mix says she was actually offered a position at Coyote Ugly when she first arrived in New York. She regrets turning it down.
"I actually do care about craft cocktails...AND I'm a babe!"
