Susie Explores The Wizarding World of Harry Potter -- Open Now!

By Susie Castillo

I’m enchanted! I just returned from an amazing trip to Universal Orlando Resort, where Oxygen got to check out The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express. Finally, a chance to be transported into the epic fantasy series that has captured our hearts for decades!

If you’re a Harry Potter fan like me, you’ll be giddier than a kid on Christmas morning when you first step foot into Diagon Alley, now open, and experience the magic for yourself!

Features include: Leaky Cauldron, Ollivanders wand shop, the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride (including a GIANT fire-breathing dragon towering on top), the Harry Potter film soundtrack blaring in the background to set the atmosphere – and so much more.

Some other awesome highlights:

Buy an Interactive Wand at Ollivanders and cast “spells” throughout Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade!

The frozen Butterbeer was delish! You MUST get the frozen kind.

I met some of the stars from the Harry Potter films! Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy) ended our red carpet interview with, “Thanks, my sweet.” Such a gentleman!

-Riding the Hogwarts Express is nothing short of magical. It transports you from King’s Cross Station in Diagon Alley’s London in Universal Studios Florida to Hogsmeade Station in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. I felt like I was in the story, living out Harry, Hermione and Ron’s trip to Hogwarts. Truth be told, I kinda teared up!...don’t tell anyone!

-Exchange your Muggle dollars for Wizarding Bank Notes at the Gringotts Money Exchange!

-Dine on authentic British pub food at the Leaky Cauldron!

-While checking out the Dark Arts in Knockturn Alley, I smiled at one of the witches and said, “Hi, how are you?” She smiled back and said, “Absolutely dreadful, thank you.” Nobody broke character the entire time, not even the wizards walking around Diagon Alley.

No expense was spared when it came to the details.  I can’t wait to go back! I’m already planning a trip for my husband and a couple of friends later this year. It’s a magical must-see this summer if you can stand the Florida heat.

Insider info: I heard that the best time of the year to avoid the long lines at the park is September, early December, and late January…so plan your trip for these times if you can! I sure will.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley will be a magical destination this summer (and many summers to come) for adults and children alike!

See you on Platform 9 ¾!
