Model Contestants Read A Lot Backstage On 'The Face'

By Fawnia Soo Hoo

While the world of modeling competitions is glamorous, there are loooong stretches of time where lithe young things are just sitting around trying to kill some time—lots read, some snack, one dons weird whiskered glasses (you'll see what we mean after the jump). Take a look at what activities some of the 24 contestants featured in "The Face: The Fight to Make the Final 12" enjoyed during their down time and don't forget to watch the special on Tuesday, February 5 at 9pm ET/PT and the series premiere a week later on Tuesday, February 12 at 9pm ET/PT.

Anna's halfway through her Fifty Shades of Grey. No clandestine e-reader erotic fan fiction going on over here—she's owning it.

Another Fifty Shades sighting. Daniela seems positively engrossed in the bestseller.

Of course this makeshift study sesh wouldn't be complete without a volume from the Hunger Games trilogy.  Lizz is making her way through the final, Mockingjay.

Devyn gets all introspective with The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams by New Age guru Deepak Chopra.

While Imani opts for a different type of self-help guide to deal with the trials and tribulations of the elimination round. Love how the book is color coordinated with her outfit, too.

There have to be some applicable nuggets of wisdom to be found in Tina Fey's Bossypants

Must have been a funny anecdote that Jessica had to share with Taylor.

Even "The Face" host Nigel Barker takes (yet another) moment to catch up on some reading, as the sound technician guy indulges in a little over the shoulder action.

Journalism student Margaux catches up on some homework.

While Jocelyn multitasks by listening to tunes and partaking in some DIY Sudoku. With sunglasses on, of course.

See, models do eat. Devyn is even doubling up on the jelly fruit snacks. Although, the long day seems to have taken its toll on Daniela, who nonchalantly slipped on a pair of whiskered spectacles.

And they've had enough, turning the tables on the paparazzi.
