Born in Northern NJ, Jasen Kaplan grew up dreaming, digesting and living out loud the fashion pages of Vogue. After working as one of Chanel's youngest regional artists ever hired, Jasen brandished his talent as a one-man industry and moved to New York City in 1999.
Immediately upon arriving he began working with fashion's top publications, becoming a star in his own right. Jasen's collaborations with top designers -- including Marc Jacobs, Alvin Valley, Anna Sui, Nina Ricci and Alice & Olivia among others -- helped transform the accepted face of beauty. At the same time, Jasen regularly collaborated with legendary photographers such as David LaChapelle.
Jasen's approach to modern makeup was and still is revolutionary: believing that makeup is not a mask and that the woman must shine through. Celebrity clients including Eva Longoria, Sharon Stone, Lynda Carter, Cyndi Lauper, Natasha Beddingfield and Lydia Hearst are testaments to Jasen's talent and ability to create looks that enhance the true beauty, style and individuality of a woman.
Eventually becoming frustrated with the cosmetic lines available, Jasen developed and successfully launched a new color and foundation collection for tarte cosmetics as the Director of Education and Product Development. Born from Jasen's fascination with color, purity and texture, tarte was one of the best sellers in Sephora and QVC.
Continually working on new projects to grow and develop his own brand, Jasen is the creative force in his own way of beauty application, a successful makeup artist and a legend in makeup artistry. Jasen, one of this country’s best beauty authorities, can be seen on television shows on MTV, the CW, Bravo, as well as the Oxygen network.
