Gabrielle Union had time today. Twitter users tried to come for her over her career choices — specifically, having done nude scenes in Being Mary Jane and choosing to play a slave in Birth of a Nation — and Union fired back with a quickness.
It all started when Union tweeted something fairly harmless, BET reports. Earlier this week, the actress shared some wise words, writing, "All money ain't good money. My self-respect, peace, and sanity ain't up for sale."
Never missing the opportunity to be shady, a slew of haters came out of the woodwork to bash Union over her career choices.
"Yes it is. You played a slave," one commenter wrote.
"I played a slave that had been raped. Which is exactly my own story. And I didn't make any $$ on the movie. Carry on," Union, who has been open about having been raped at gunpoint at the age of 19, fired back.
Another commenter tried to come for Union over her choice to do a nude scene on Being Mary Jane and the actress was quick to correct them, too.
"I'm the star and executive producer of #BeingMaryJane & it was MY choice to show a grown woman enjoying her vagina," Union wrote.
See the rest of Union's responses below.
She wasn't done there, either. Union also offered some straightforward advice that hopefully men like Tyrese will listen to, writing, "And if y'all don't stop offering wack advice about what grown women do w/their bodies..."
