Kim Kardashian is facing a ton of criticism this week after defending controversial beauty guru Jeffree Star.
Star came under fire earlier this year after years-old footage of him using racial slurs came to light; he later publicly apologized, and during a series of Snapchat videos last night, Kim defended him.
Apparently, it all started when Kim's fans started coming at Jeffree for dissing Kim's swatches, and began bringing up his racist past on social media. Kim scolded her fans over it, telling them to "let him live."
"I get it's a serious deal if you say racial things, but I do believe in people changing, and people that apologize, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and accept that people change and move on," Kim said. "I know better than anyone that I hate when people bring up my past or mistakes I've made in the past. So let him live."
"So everyone get off his ass and let's not be so negative. We're all in this together. There's room for all of us. Love you Jeffree," she added, blowing a kiss to the camera.
"And I want to make one last thing clear, I do not defend people that are racist and I am very against it," she continued later. "But if someone claims that they have changed, I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt, and I pray to God that they do change for the sake of my children and my friends."
Many on social media had a lot to say about Kim's comments, with a common theme being that it's not her place to tell people of color how they should feel about racism. What do you think? Check out some of the responses on Twitter and sound off in the comments below.
