Over a month after her ex-husband Russell Simmons was accused of sexual misconduct, Kimora Lee Simmons has broken her silence on the situation.
The NYPD's Special Victims Unit began investigating multiple allegations of rape and "violent sexual behavior" involving Russell Simmons in December of last year, Page Six reports. At present time, eight women — including a former executive employee at Simmons' Def Jam record label, a singer he managed in the early 90s, and a journalist — have accused the media mogul of rape and sexual assault.
On Thursday, Simmons' ex-wife, with whom he shares two daughters, spoke out about the situation via her Instagram page.
"I add my voice to the chorus of those speaking out against harassment and violence in all its forms," she wrote. "I have known Russell for over 25 years. We were close friends, married, divorced, and have remained friends, co-parents and partners throughout it all. These allegations against him are nothing like the person I have known in all that time. I have known him to be a caring and supportive father and someone who has worked tirelessly to uplift disenfranchised communities."

Russell Simmons has vehemently denied all accusations against him, telling The New York Times last year that the "horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual."
"I look forward to having my day in court — where, unlike the court of public opinion, I will have the ability to make use of fair processes that ensure that justice will be done and that the full truth will be known," he told Page Six.
