Lady Gaga Will Sing The National Anthem At The Super Bowl

By Sharon Lynn Pruitt

First Beyonce, now Lady Gaga? This year's Super Bowl is shaping up to be an event even non-football fans will be tuning into.

The N.F.L. announced yesterday that Mother Monster will be gracing viewers with her version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Super Bowl 50 this Sunday. She takes the baton from Broadway star Idina Menzel, who performed the national anthem last year, as well as opera singer Renée Fleming, who perfomed before that. It's an intimidating list of vocalists, but when it comes to belting it out, Gaga is more than capable of holding her own. Don't believe me? Check out this clip of her singing the national anthem at the NYC Pride Rally a few years ago.

Is it just me, or do people forget how talented Gaga actually is? Don't let the weird outfits fool you (it seems like she's mostly left meat dresses and wearable art behind her) - she's sure to kill it during the game this Sunday.

2016 is really shaping up to be a good year for Gaga. She took home a Golden Globe for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel last month, and not only is she nominated for a Grammy for best original song for "Til It Happens To You," she'll have the great honor of performing a David Bowie tribute at the ceremony this year.
