Marvel's Luke Cage series was a phenomenal critical success, with many praising the show for its subtle and not-so-subtle political motifs and metaphors. Now, Netflix has renewed the show for a second season in a move that is sure to piss off the same white people who were angry about the first season.
The announcement comes by way of Variety who also notes that "Luke Cage is now the third Marvel show to get a second season on the streaming platform. Daredevil was first to be renewed for a second season, and has also received the greenlight for a third. Jessica Jones was also renewed after its critically acclaimed freshman season."
Here's Marvel's official plot description of the series: "After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury."
Will racists react to the second season with the same venom they reacted to the first? Since there's no release date for the debut anywhere in sight, we might be waiting for a while to find out.
