If you saw the new trailer for the new film Urban Myths, which features white man Joseph Fiennes in heavy prosthetics playing the King of Pop, you may understand why Michael Jackson’s daughter is up in arms against the film. Jackson has said he never wanted to be portrayed in a film by a white man, but here we are. Paris Jackson expressed her anger on social media in a series of tweets directed at a Michael Jackson podcast that had called for a boycott of the film. She wrote on Wednesday:
“I’m so incredibly offended by it, as i’m sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit. It angers me to see how obviously intentional it was for them to be this insulting, not just towards my father, but my godmother liz as well.”
She added, “Where is the respect? They worked through blood sweat and tears for ages to create such profound and remarkable legacies.”
It sounds like she wasn’t a fan of Stockard Channing as Elizabeth Taylor either.
The film is being marketed as a goofy take on rumored stories about celebrities, but it’s understandable that there are some things people just don’t want to laugh about.
