Actress Vanessa Hudgens is known for her festival style but the Coachella queen is getting heat for a look that may have crossed the line of cultural appropriation. Refinery 29 says that Vanessa posted images from a photo shoot with Beauty Coach wearing a purple dream catcher and some fans are not happy.

"Queen of appropriating culture," commented one person on her Instagram post. Another added, "THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL AND IF YOURE NOT NATIVE AMERICAN ALSO DONT [S]AY THIS ISNT DISRESPECTFUL FOH."

In some Native American cultures, the dream catcher is an ancient symbol meant to protect a person from bad dreams. It is viewed as a symbol of unity among tribes.

In the same Instagram post, many came to Vanessa's defense. "I'm FULL native American and hardly any of us wear a dream catcher in our hair lmaoooo," added one fan. "Anyone can wear the whatever the f-ck they want this is America," claimed one. Some defenders point to Vanessa's ancestry, which includes Native American heritage on her father's side. "SHE IS HALF NATIVE AMERICAN, YOU'ALL NEED TO STFU AND INFORM YOURSELVES BEFORE COME HERE AND JUDGE SOMEONE WITHOUT KNOWING."

Do you think Vanessa Hudgens was just paying homage or did you find it inappropriate?
