A Georgia man has been jailed for allegedly kidnapping a woman from South Carolina and holding her against her will inside a motel room for several months, according to authorities.

Ismael Patricio Aguirre, 22, was arrested on Dec. 13 and charged with rape, kidnapping, aggravated assault, battery and false imprisonment, according to online jail records obtained by Oxygen.com

Authorities say Aguirre abducted the woman from her home in Charleston, South Carolina upwards of four months ago, per Fox News. Aguirre allegedly then took the woman to a motel room in Waynesboro, Georgia where she was held against her will for weeks. The woman told law enforcement she was routinely subjected to beatings and was strangled and raped by Aguirre, officials said.

The woman escaped captivity by faking her own pregnancy, ultimately reporting Aguirre to investigators after he took her to a hospital, South Carolina television station WLTX reported. According to hospital workers in Waynesboro, Aguirre and the victim arrived at the medical facility because the woman was thought to be unconscious and pregnant. She reportedly told hospital staff that she actually wasn’t pregnant but required assistance to get away from Aguirre.

Investigators say the woman was forced to act as a “puppet to [Aguirre’s] demands” and was repeatedly raped by him, per a police report cited by Georgia television station WRDW-TV. She allegedly told detectives that Aguirre dictated when she could eat or drink and also forced her to work against her will.

She further accused Aguirre of threatening to kill her children as well as her mother if she disobeyed him.

The victim wasn’t identified by investigators.

Aguirre is being held at a Burke County detention facility pending trial. He was denied bail, per online jail records. It’s unclear if he’s secured legal counsel to comment on his behalf.

No additional information was released by law enforcement. Oxygen.com has reached out to the Waynesboro Police Department for further comment.
