Troubled teenager Antonia Lopez, who threw her newborn baby to its death, will be charged as an adult for felony child abuse resulting in death. The child was born prematurely to the 16-year-old early on Friday morning. Antonia had posted a plea on her Facebook page at 3:40 am saying ““Who can do me a huge favor and has a car?” mere minutes before throwing the child out the window of her second story apartment window in Omaha, Nebraska.
Sadly, this was not the first time young Antonia has been in trouble with the law. She was caught stealing cell phone cases last year at an area Walmart, for which she was placed on six months probation. According to police, her family reported her missing nine times, between August and November of last year.
Police say Antonia gave birth prematurely in the middle of the night. After throwing the baby out the window, she went and told her mother, who called 911. While waiting for help to arrive, her mother found the baby outside and tried to administer CPR. The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital where it was formally pronounced dead. Antonia was booked into the Douglas County Youth Center. An autopsy for the deceased baby is pending.
