No Charges Against Comedian Andy After Alleged Victim Refuses To Cooperate, Authorities Say

“The case is not proceeding forward due to the fact that the victim is being uncooperative,” Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Steinle weeks after Andy Dick was arrested at a California camp site.

A criminal sexual battery investigation into comedian Andy Dick won't be moving forward after the alleged victim stopped cooperating with authorities.

“The case is not proceeding forward due to the fact that the victim is being uncooperative,” Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Steinle told NBC News.

Dick, who was arrested on May 11 while staying with a group of people living in RVs at O’Neill Regional Park, was never formally charged by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

The office had requested that the sheriff’s department conduct a deeper investigation into the allegations but when the sheriff’s office reached out to the alleged victim, Steinle said the man stopped cooperating.

Without his cooperation, Steinle said the case has been deactivated.

Oxygen.com reached out the sheriff’s office but did not receive an immediate response.

Dick’s arrest was livestreamed by the people he had been staying with, who had been documenting their lives on the Captain Content YouTube Channel, Deadline reported earlier this month.

One of the men in the group had alleged that Dick “molested” him.

The live stream captured Dick speaking to deputies before he was led away in handcuffs, according to TMZ, who was first to report on the arrest. Dick had reportedly been living with the group for some time before his arrest.

After he was taken into custody, Dick’s attorney Daniel Kapelovitz called the allegations “totally bogus.”

Dick has had a series of legal troubles in recent years. He pleaded not guilty in October 2019 to misdemeanor charges accusing him of groping a rideshare driver in 2018, CBS News reports. He was also arrested in 2010 after he allegedly groped a bouncer and customer at a West Virginia bar, but the charges were later dismissed after he agreed to participate in a diversion program.
