'Dateline' Correspondent Keith Morrison Reveals His New Calm App Story at CrimeCon 2022

When  Andrea Canning, Dennis Murphy, and Josh Mankiewicz of "Dateline" came out at CrimeCon 2022, they were all greeted by raucous cheers.

But one person in particular received rapturous applause: Keith Morrison, who came out to chants of "Keith! Keith! Keith!"

The thunderous reception was no surprise, as the panel "Dateline 24/7: What's Next For The True Crime Original" first reminded the audience with a clip compilation that "Dateline" is a true crime institution. Morrison in particular has become a pop culture icon thanks to his soothing, deep voice — a voice to which many people claim they fall asleep at night.

And now, it turns out, fans can be rocked to sleep by that golden voice in a totally different way.

Morrison explained he's debuting a sleep story on the Calm app, which provides meditation guidelines and soothing stories to help people quiet the mind and sleep. Naturally, the news delighted the crowd.

"One of the key people in our organization is always coming up with news and crazy ideas'" Morrison explained, noting that someone had suggested he voice directions on the mapping app Waze — a concept that also got a lot of people excited.

"She came to me a long time ago and said you should read a story on the Calm app," he added. "I said I suppose it's generally kind of weird but why not? The Calm people got back to me with a story, a retelling of the Goldilocks story ... but it's actually fascinating."

"I had fun," he added.

The story, which will be titled "The Curious Case of the Overnight Oats," will debut on the Calm app on May 3, PEOPLE reported.

"If you can stay awake to the end of it, you can win a prize. The prize is not going to sleep," he joked at CrimeCon.

CrimeCon 2022 is produced by Red Seat Ventures and presented by Oxygen.
