Donny Jackson Arrested In Boys' Murders, Daughters' Abduction

A Kansas man who allegedly killed two young boys before abducting his 7- and 3-year-old daughters was apprehended by authorities Sunday.

Donny Jackson, 40, was taken into custody following a frantic search. He's accused of killing two boys, ages 14 and 11, in Leavenworth, Kansas, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. He later abducted his two daughters, investigators said, according to NBC News.

The two boys, who were not immediately identified, are believed to be siblings of the two girls Jackson allegedly abducted, according to Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office. It's not immediately clear what Jackson's relationship to the boys was.

Authorities were tipped off to the boys’ murder after one of the children didn’t show up for a soccer game, KMBC.com reported.

Jackson was arrested after an officer spotted his Honda Accord in Erick, Okla., near the Oklahoma-Texas border, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said. His two daughters were safely located during the arrest.

An hour prior to the homicide being reported, Jackson was pulled over around 12:30 p.m. by Kansas Highway Patrol for an “unrelated car stop,” near the Oklahoma border, authorities said. The two girls were reportedly in the car at the time.

"They made contact at the vehicle and that was prior to law enforcement being alert to the incident that had transpired here today,” Maj. Jim Sherley, of Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office said, KSHB-TV reported.

The two girls have since been returned to relatives, according to KSHB. Jackon has allegedly had previous “dealings” with law enforcement, although investigators declined to elaborate, the Kansas City Star reported

Sherley described it as a “basic traffic stop.”

The two girls’ disappearance from Leavenworth, which is roughly 35 miles north of Kansas City, triggered Amber Alerts in three states, including Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas.

Authorities have released few other details about the double-murder and abduction.

A GoFundMe has been started for the mother of the two boys who were killed.

“[She] is now faced with the overwhelming task of paying for a funeral for her two sons,” the page said of the boys’ mom Tara Jackson. “She will also face many other unknowns in the future.”
