Disturbing Details Of R. Kelly’s Alleged Sexual Abuse Of 3 Girls, Woman Revealed In Court Document

Prosecutors claim that R. Kelly once set his sights on a teenage girl after meeting her at her 16th birthday dinner and had his manager slip her his phone number, despite the girl’s mother being present at the time.

R. Kelly met one of his alleged sexual abuse victims at her sweet 16 birthday party. He started up a relationship with another alleged victim, also a minor, while he was on trial for child pornography charges.

Those details were revealed in a bond proffer filed in Cook County Court, and obtained by Chicago’s WGN 9, after the 52-year-old singer was charged Friday with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse.

He surrendered to the authorities later that day and is currently still in police custody, having failed to gather the $100,000 needed to cover bail. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday.

The latest allegations against Kelly span 12 years and involve four alleged victims, three of whom were underage at the time of their alleged sexual encounters with Kelly.

Prosecutors claim that Kelly met the first of the four victims listed, a teenage girl, at a restaurant in 1998, where she was celebrating her 16th birthday. Kelly’s manager is said to have given the girl Kelly’s business card with his personal phone number written on the back, and told her that Kelly wanted her to call him, according to the documents. Despite the victim’s mother taking away the card and telling the manager that her daughter was only 16, the girl later found the card and the number and was able to call Kelly, who instructed her to skip school and take a cab to his studio, the proffer states.

During Kelly’s first encounter with the girl, he “had trouble maintaining an erection and penetrated the victim repeatedly vaginally and orally,” prosecutors say. Afterwards, Kelly gave the girl an envelope containing a large sum of money that she believed was to pay for the cab rides to and from his studio. Kelly and this particular victim had sexual encounters around once a month for a year, according to the documents.

Prosecutors say that Kelly met another 16-year-old girl whom he would later victimize during his 2008 child pornography trial. The girl in question asked for his autograph following a court hearing, and Kelly allegedly invited her to his house after finding out her age. Kelly is accused of having penetrative and oral sex with the alleged victim multiple times between May 1, 2009 and January 31, 2010, and physically assaulting her by choking and slapping her, and at times spitting on her, throughout the relationship. The alleged victim later supplied police with one of her shirts, which she said Kelly ejaculated on, and authorities tested the shirt and identified semen on it, the documents state.

Another girl who prosecutors say Kelly victimized was between 14 and 16 years old when the singer allegedly began a sexual relationship with her. A witness reported having spoken to Kelly and his associates in 2001 and was instructed to recover videotapes that showed Kelly having sex with the alleged victim when she was 14 years old, prosecutors contend.

After the unnamed witness obtained and watched the video — which reportedly showed Kelly having sex with the victim, who repeatedly stated her age, in a house that the witness recognized as belonging to Kelly — they turned the tape over to the state’s attorney’s office. According to the witness, the girl in the video is the niece of someone prosecutors refer to only as “S.E.” and that person has positively identified the child in the video as being her niece.

Prosecutors listed only one adult victim: a 24-year-old hairdresser who recounted a disturbing incident in 2003, during which Kelly exposed himself to her and tried to force her into oral sex. The unnamed victim was reportedly hired to braid Kelly’s hair, but when he arrived that day, his pants were down and he said that he didn’t want his hair braided. Instead, as he pointed to his penis, he said that he wanted his head massaged, the victim said, according to prosecutors. Kelly is alleged to have grabbed the woman by the head in an attempt to force her to give him oral sex, but when she fought, he masturbated and ejaculated onto her instead, according to court documents. Prosecutors are accusing Kelly of also spitting in her face multiple times.

Just as one of his teenage victims did, the hairdresser also turned over the shirt she was wearing to police, who, after testing it, found that semen was present on the shirt and that the DNA in that semen matched Kelly’s DNA profile, the documents state.

The four stories detailed in the four-page bond proffer are a handful out of many accusations that have been levied against Kelly throughout his decades-long career as an entertainer. He was acquitted on child pornography charges in 2008, but the accusations against him have continued to mount. A 2017 Buzzfeed article describing a cult-like atmosphere among Kelly and his alleged victims — whose families claim they were brainwashed — reignited interest in the singer’s alleged activities. That interest reached a fever pitch earlier this year, when Lifetime’s explosive “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary premiered and brought public, as well as police,  attention to the numerous accusations of sexual misconduct surrounding Kelly.

Just a day before the charges were filed, two new women came forward to allege that the singer propositioned them both as teenagers. Nearly two weeks ago, celeb attorney Michael Avenatti claimed to have uncovered another damning sex tape featuring Kelly and a minor. It’s not clear if this is the same tape turned over to authorities in Cook County.

Kelly has maintained his innocence. His lawyer Steve Greenberg said last month that Kelly “never knowingly had sex with an underage woman.”
