Amber Rose Calls Out Channing Tatum And A Stripper Double Standard

Why doesn't Channing Tatum ever get heat for being a stripper, too?

By Sowmya Krishnamurthy

Is there a stripper double standard? Amber Rose thinks so. The 32-year-old author and television personality is tired of people judging her for her stripper past while Channing Tatum, a former male stripper, is praised.

"We've had the same life, [Channing] and I, and I'm dumbed down for it," she tells Cosmo South Africa, per US Weekly. Amber points to the fact that the actor is not only a former dancer but he's created several movies about stripping. "He even made a movie about being a stripper! And everyone bought it and they loved it and they were like, ‘Oh, my God, Magic Mike, we gotta go see it!’ But if I did that, people would tell me I was disgusting.”

Amber doesn't fault Channing ("It's not his fault— it's just society") but she says that her resume as a woman is still overshadowed by her past. “I run eight businesses, I'm the CEO of my own company and still I'm called a stripper. It's so ridiculous."

She has a point. Channing stripper past has been called "sexy" while Amber's has been used to publicly slut-shame her.

What do you think of the stripper double standard?
