In an effort to raise awareness of the realities of domestic violence, Russian model Kira Dice took to social media earlier this week to share graphic photos of injuries she says her ex-boyfriend caused.
The 23-year-old model shared the disturbing photos, as well as a lengthy caption detailing the alleged assault, in a post on her Facebook page on Sunday. The alleged attack occurred in her home in Moscow, Russia on June 30, mere days before she was scheduled to travel to China for a modeling job, according to a translation of her post. During the attack, her former partner beat her “purposefully” and broke furniture, she wrote.
"[He] shoved money in my mouth when I was practically unconscious and tore off my underpants trying to rape my battered body with my fingers while screaming that I was a disgusting whore cheating on him, and he loved me so much,” her post reads. It was enough to cause her to pass out, but she claimed she regained consciousness when he placed her in the shower with the water running, she said. He allegedly eventually allowed her to call an ambulance, and upon their arrival she “crawled out of the bathroom with words of help,” according to her Facebook post.
She claimed first responders took her to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries, an experience that she called “embarrassing and scary.” The bruises that appeared following the attack lasted for two weeks, and she still has scars from the cuts on her legs, she alleged in her post.
She said of her injuries in a separate post, “When I saw them yesterday after a couple of months again, I could hardly get to know my face. Hard to believe it really was with me.”
Dice shared her story in the hopes of encouraging others to take a stand against intimate partner violence.
“I ask you not to be indifferent to domestic violence!” she wrote in another post. “Help the poor girls who have never been able to stand up for themselves then, but at least they will be able to do it now!!!” she added.
Dice shared a quote from Colleen Hoover’s “It Ends With Us” that addresses domestic violence on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
“It’s sad that those are the first thoughts that run through our minds when someone is abused shouldn't there be more distance in our mouths for the abusers than for those who continue to love the abusers?” it reads in part.
Dice is signed with Krais Models agency and has been featured in Vogue Russia, according to her Instagram page.
